Wide Receivers

wrcrabtree1.  Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech, 6013 215, ??? (1) — NFL Comparison:  Larry Fitzgerald(ARI)

Strengths: Incredible body control…will outwork defenders for the ball in the air…gets good positions and attacks the ball…very productive…great hands…catches ball away from his body…very physical…excellent after the catch runner…strong receiver…shows willingness and talent to block consistently…great leaper…has excellent ability to find the soft spot in zone and get open

Weaknesses: May lack top-end speed…nagging ankle injury…questions about being a system WR…only two years experience at the WR position

wrharvin12.  Percy Harvin, Florida, 5111 192, 4.41 (1) — NFL Comparison:  Reggie Bush (NO)

Strenths: Incredible speed…the most versatile player in the draft…flat out playmaker…is a threat to score everytime he touches the ball…soft hands…catches ball away from body…insane in the open field…great runner after the catch…tough guy who played through injuries…amazing athlete…is more powerful than size would indicate

Weaknesses: Injuries are a concern…hasn’t shown ability to stay healthy for an entire season…lacks prototypical height…is he a RB, WR, or utility guy…never had incredible stats as a pure receiver

wrmaclin3.  Jeremy Maclin, Missouri, 6001 198, 4.45 (1) — NFL Comparison:  Bernard Berrian(MIN)

Strengths: Speed…a lot like Harvin only bigger…is an asset in the return game…ability to break any play and score…thrived as unquestioned number one target…very productive…pretty good height and frame…catches ball well, away from body

Weaknesses: Can get frustrated when not getting the ball…only a sophomore so experience is not where it could be…must learn to run crisper routes…played in a system that threw short passes

wrnickslittleuparrow34.  Hakeem Nicks, UNC, 6006 212, 4.49 (1) — NFL Comparison:  Anquan Boldin(ARI)

Strengths: Hands…hand-eye coordination is among best in the draft…has great focus and watches the ball in…those catches against West Virginia in the Meineke Bowl were huge boosts to draft status…physical receiver who attacks ball and beats defenders to the catch…was very productive…big part of UNC’s turnaround season

Weaknesses: Needs to run cleaner routes…does not have blazing speed, won’t outrun anyone down the sidelines…only had one year of superstar productivity…needs better release off the line of scrimmage

wrheywardbey15.  Darrius Heyward-Bey, Maryland, 6015 210, 4.30 (1-2) — NFL Comparison:  Ashley Lelie(OAK)

Strengths: Speed…great quickness and acceleration…great deep threat…can take any catch to the house…is tall and has great size to beat defensive backs…loads of potential and upside

Weaknesses: Experience…started out as a track guy playing football…needs to work on hands and catching ball away from his body…not a disciplined route runner…needs to develop an overall better feel for the game…can get lost in zone coverage
